Located in the University of British Columbia Endowment Lands, just outside the city limits of Vancouver on the campus of the University of British Columbia, the current location of the Thunderbird Arena at the University of British Columbia. The Centre, a year-round sport, recreational, and multi-use facility will serve both the needs of the UBC athletics and the UBC community.

The arena, which will feature a 6,650 seat mail ice rink along with two other rinks, will be constructed from April 2006 to April 2008 will be the secondary venue for men's and women's ice hockey in the 2010 Winter Olympics and sledge hockey in the 2010 Winter Paralympics.

Following the Olympic Games, this legacy facility will function both as a UBC intermural sporting, training and recreational facility as well as an important community facility.
