BCIT AEROSPACE & TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS
3800 Cessna Drive, Richmond, BC

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is in the process of constructing a new Aerospace and Technology Campus located at a site on Sea Island, Richmond, BC, near Vancouver International Airport and other YVR facilities.  The facilities comprise a 90m X 45m hangar, with attached classroom, training, and service facilities varying in height from two to three stories together with a  partnership building, the latter being five stories in height.

The site is located adjacent to the middle arm of the Fraser River and extensive site densification and improvements have been completed to allow for construction of this facility. An extensive use of glass covers the exterior of the building and provides for views of the Fraser River and north shore mountains.  The structure consists of a variety of construction techniques including structural steel, cast in place concrete, tilt-up concrete and eccentric steel brace frames. Completion is scheduled for Fall 2007 and projected to house Aerospace, Technology and Degree  and Business programs for over 1,000 full-time students.
